Tell Me About Yourself

If you have trouble answering "Tell me about yourself" as you prepare for your next interview, work through your answers to these questions. Trim it down and build a concise introduction that includes these components in 3 minutes or less. Note that if you include something you're most proud of, it should include data that demonstrates impact and relate directly to what you'd be doing in this role.

As an interviewer, I never say, "Tell me about yourself" because it freaks people out and they don't typically tell me anything I didn't already know from their resume anyway. Unpopular opinion- it's a waste of time. I'd recommend swapping in one or a combination of these questions instead, so you get a more specific response and can kick off a conversation more easily.

I always liked asking "Why Amazon?" because it was a great time to address any misconceptions or questions a candidate had about the company right off the bat and build trust through good conversation.

Have you found this question difficult in the past? Any other questions to kick off an interview you prefer?
