Better Interview Skills = Improved…
Most people don't take the time to actively work on interview skills, unless they find themselves in a busy interview season of their lives. You never know when you'll need to draw upon these skills again, either having to find a new job or find someone to join your team. Those who consistently take the time to hone these skills find these benefits in all areas of their lives:
⠀
1. Listening Skills - In day to day life, it's easy to feel like you're listening and float through conversations. In an interview, it's critical to listen to the other person with a deeper level of understanding.
2. Ability to Speak Impromptu - Even if you're prepared, you're probably going to run into a question you didn't anticipate from either an interviewer or candidate. This skill only improves with practice.
3. Introspection - When you have to talk about yourself, you tend to ask yourself more questions and consider past experiences. Or, if you're a hiring manager or interviewer working on biases, or finding yourself triggered by candidate's responses, you may wonder where that comes from. The person you're talking to can act as a mirror and result in higher levels of self awareness as well.
4. Self-Assurance - The more interviews you do, the more confident you become in your abilities.

Do you work on your interview skills outside of finding a job or new hire? I'm always happy to help support with mock interviews or other resources. I've been pondering if a monthly "interview club" for both job seekers and hiring managers could be helpful, would you be interested? 🤔
