I was just providing a reference (🀞) today, and while we were chatting, the hiring manager I was talking to mentioned this was one of her biggest struggles with entry level candidates. They've all been scared to ask questions or admit when they were falling behind until it was too late. It's completely expected that you ask some thoughtful questions when you're starting out.

My best practice for this has always been keeping a running list of questions while working on my projects. I'd do my best to see if I could find the answers myself, and bring the rest to my scheduled 1:1 with my manager. Of course, if I ever had an urgent question (risk of making a big mistake, or impacting a milestone), I knew my manager would be fine with me asking in the moment.

This applies to interviews, too! Make sure you have multiple questions to ask at the end of your interviews, not only so you can demonstrate how committed and interested you are, so you can determine if it's the right job/company/hiring manager for you. More important than getting the offer is knowing if YOU want it.
