75% of Employers use Behavioral Interview Questions
Why do I focus on Behavioral Interview Questions (about specific situations)? As a former Amazon Bar Raiser, I know that these are the only kinds of questions that will give me a realistic glimpse of what a candidate is like to work with and how they handle situations that arise. I also remember what happened when I didn't ask these types of questions. 😬
⠀
When led by a skilled interviewer, these questions allow the conversation to flow much more naturally and can improve the interview experience for both parties. Follow up questions provide more clarification and understanding throughout the conversation.
⠀
How do you answer this type of question well? Use a real example from your past experience that is relevant, impactful enough for the level of role you're applying for, with enough detail or complexity to talk about it for around 15 minutes. It doesn't need to be perfect- in fact, I prefer when it's a little murky and the candidate has learned something meaningful that has changed how they work.

Have you had any interviews in the past 3 years that didn't include Behavioral Interview Questions? What do you like about them? What trips you up?
