Why Behavioral Questions?
Why are answers to behavioral questions so much more telling than "regular" questions? Their focus is actual past situations, full of rich detail and information, gathered from follow up questions. When asking what a candidate might do in a hypothetical situation or staying only high-level, you only hear about what they think you want them to say, which is more ideal than realistic.
⠀
I also think behavioral interview questions result in much more interesting conversations - it's much more fun to dive deep into a few topics than rattle off 15 questions and answers in an hour. If we can all reframe interviews as opportunities for great conversations, it would make the whole hiring process much more enjoyable. 😊
