There are so many interviews where I wish the candidate had said one of these things to me rather than going full steam ahead in the wrong direction. 😬 I've seen some of these in "things never to say in an interview" articles and I couldn't disagree more. We're all human. If your interviewer can't give you some grace for clarification, nerves, or biological needs, that may be a sign they won't value those things in your day to day job either. Clear communication about how you're doing in the interview can build trust and prevent assumptions or "filling in the gaps" during your conversation.

Hiring managers, identify if you have a reaction to any of these responses and work to reduce any bias you may have around them. If the candidate says these things to you, it's a great sign that they feel comfortable to do so and are willing to be vulnerable. 👍

Have you been afraid to say any of these things in an interview?
