In an Interview, It’s Okay to Say…

I saw another "Things to NEVER say in a job interview" and felt triggered so I'm bringing this series back. 😂 It's all about context of the particular conversation and keeping a positive attitude, but it's absolutely okay to:

- Give the interviewer a heads up that someone else asked that specific question during a full day of back to back interviews (I've had this happen and was very grateful they told me so I could switch it up and ask them a different question). They may still want to ask it, but it's nice to let them know in a polite way.
- Ask for more details about the performance review and promotion process. You're looking for a role with growth opportunities.
- Admit that a particular area may not be your strongest, but give them a similar example with confidence that you can do what they're looking for.
- Ask about expectations about overtime, or anything else that may be a dealbreaker for you accepting the role.

🙋 I've said all of these things as an interview candidate and it didn't stop me from getting the offer. Use your best judgment and say them when appropriate.

Have you said or heard any of these in an interview? What else would you add?
