Go Beyond the Cover Letter Template

The last handful of cover letters I've received from clients have looked exactly the same, and they were from completely different people with careers in a variety of industries. 😬 Yes, templates are such a helpful starting point to make sure you have the right components to your cover letter, but that's what they should be- not a form to fill out. Would you rather apply to 500 jobs without hearing back, or spend the time to intentionally apply for 5 and get an interview and ultimately the role you're looking for? This is your opportunity to really stand out and show what you bring to the role and company!
â €
For your next cover letter, remember that you're writing a letter to an actual person - the hiring manager. Step away from the template and write from your experience and your heart. Then, compare it to the template to make sure it includes the key components, add anything you missed so it flows naturally.
â €
It can be exhausting applying to so many roles, which makes using a quick and dirty template appealing, but I promise the more you practice writing a thoughtful cover letter, the easier it gets.
