What are your building blocks?

Sunday mornings at the end of the year are for deep thoughts and toddler blocks. 😉 I’ve been reflecting on my career as I write my goals for 2021 and I’m always struck by how my early moves were the building blocks that shaped my career.

Without my marketing internship, I wouldn’t have gotten a student partnership with Microsoft. Without that, I wouldn’t have gotten my internship at Adobe. And without working at Adobe, I wouldn’t have gotten the job at a digital agency that worked primarily with Flash.

Every role is a building block to something even better, an especially helpful thing to remember if you’re just starting out or are currently in a job you don’t enjoy. What building blocks have helped you get to where you are today? What will your next building block be?
