Instead of “How Do You Handle Pressure?”
"How do you handle pressure?" is a common interview question that doesn't get results. Of course anyone you interview is going to tell you they can handle it, but how do you know what kind of pressure they've experienced, from whom (manager/clients/stakeholders), and the scope of what they were working on?
⠀
This behavioral interview question not only seeks out more detail from the candidate around a pressure-filled situation, it also reveals decision-making process for how they chose between cost/quality/timeliness. While it's a different and specific example, their response should naturally translate to how you might expect them to make the same decision in this role, if they were hired. Always ask if they would do anything differently today, or what they've learned from the decision they made!
